cant remove memory card on imac late 2009

I am trying to replace the dimms on my late 2009 iMac, but I can’t get the old dimm cards to come out. Can I use a forceps to remove the 2 old cards? I don’t want to damage anything of course, but it shouldn’t be so hard to upgrade the memory.

thank you

When I added two dimms to my old 2009 iMac, i inserted them into two unused slots. Inserting them completely was impossible. Finally, I used the handle of a screwdriver to tap them in and that worked. Those slots are wicked!

I finally got the tabs to work on this, but it was a huge struggle! I had tried to wiggle the tabs left, then right, then finally using all the strength I had I lifted up while pulling and the first one came out, it worked the same for the second. Overall, it took well over 45 minutes to get these tabs to release the cards.

thank you for your suggestion

Thanks, for me the harder part was getting the old ones out. But it’s true that putting the new ones in was rather tight and it didn’t really click when they were seated correctly so until I turned the computer on again I wasn’t sure if the 4 new Simms were in correctly. They were, thankfully, but what an ordeal overall!
