Apple TV asks to confirm using device not working

Hello,


I tried to confirm purchase using devices from my Apple TV, I got a notification on my iPhone when I click on it I get nothing except on the Apple TV a message saying « payment not completed »

I have exactly the same issue. I can, however, rent movies via my ATV app on my phone and then watch them on the ATV by finding the rented movie in “recent purchases”.


Credit card authorisation is successful via the QR an iPhone browser but then the ATV does not react - just stays on the screen with the QR code. Sometimes the “auth with your phone” option generates the message on the phone but when I do that, a message appears on ATV saying the card was not authorised. Very weird!


I have reset the ATV to factory settings, signed out of the store and and also completely out of everything and signed back in but no difference.

I have this issue following purchase of new Apple TV 4K. Used to work fine with old ATV 4K. Now I am asked (after selecting to purchase or rent the item) to go to an apple payment authorisation page, or follow a QR code, in order to authorise on another device. This goes through, after signing in with my Apple ID. It says ‘authorisation successful’ and to close the browser tab. The Apple TV remains on the same screen, nothing changes. Apple support says the transactions are approved from their end. My bank says it cannot see them (3 attempts this morning). Update to latest ATV software makes no difference. Stumped.
